Choreographic Workshop

Choreographic Workshop 2021 banner TEST.png

Modeled after a similar program led by Gus Solomons Jr. in New York City, Choreographic Workshop is a program for emerging and seasoned choreographers, in which each participant presents one new or revisited piece of work over the course of the five sessions and receives feedback from peers. Discussions are facilitated by Lauren Kravitz and follow Liz Lerman’s Creative Response Process in order to give a centralizing and constructive context to feedback. This workshop puts an emphasis on the creative process over product and provides choreographers with time, space, and materials to craft innovative and informed dance work.

Agora Artists is planning to offer Choreographic Workshop as a COVID-safe, in-person series with limited capacity. This is subject to change based upon CDC recommendations and the state of the COVID-19 pandemic. If an in-person series is not possible, workshops will be help over zoom on the same days and times.

Sundays, 1-5pm

1/10, 1/24, 2/7, 2/21, 3/7

FREE

Donations are always welcome and will go towards covering the cost of space and administrative work for this workshop.

We ask that all participants commit to at least four out of the five sessions. Participants are strongly encouraged to apply for Seeds, a presentation of local dance works on March 20th, 2021. Participation in Seeds includes a produced concert, video documentation, and a stipend.

After filling out the registration form, we will confirm your spot in this workshop series.

We look forward to crafting with you!
